Since its inception, Villa QQ Independent Living has been a place full of inspiration and transcendence. Inhabited by the renowned writer D.H. Lawrence and enriched with architectural details designed by acclaimed architect Luis Barragán, our residence combines a unique cultural legacy with the warmth of home. Villa QQ Independent Living: A historic oasis in Mexico to live your best life
Our property is known historically as one of the homes of renowned English author DH Lawrence. Some of our suites are named after his numerous books, which gives a special and unique touch to each of the spaces.
Almost a century has passed since DH Lawrence visited Chapala, where he was inspired to write his acclaimed book, The Plumed Serpent during his stay in 1923.. Later, in 1954, the prominent American artist Roy MacNicol acquired and remodeled the residence, adding the pool facilities.
The architectural details that distinguish our Villa are those made by the famous architect and engineer Luis Barragán, when he remodeled the property in 1940.
Our mission and vision for the future
Our residence was founded with the purpose of offering a safe and welcoming home for active seniors. We believe in providing an environment where each resident can enjoy their independence and well-being.
A renewed legacy: from Quinta Quetzalcóatl to Villa QQ Independent Living
In 1978, it began operating for the first time as Hotel B&B Quinta Quetzalcoatl. In 2019, it was acquired by a consolidated group of international investors who have restored the property to offer a maximum level of comfort in a beautiful environment.
The name of the Villa retains its QQ initials in order to continue with its important historical identity.
